First Aid at Work Re-qualification (2 day)

First Aid at Work Re-qualification (2 day)Description
It is a requirement of the Health & Safety law that employers should provide a safe and healthy environment for their employees. If the assessment of First Aid needs highlights the need to maintain the qualification of your First Aider's, then this course will provide you with that.

This comprehensive two-day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all learners to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way.

In addition, should there have been any change to protocols during their initial qualification, then this will be updated.

This course will give the learners a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

A minimum of 12 hours spread over at least two days. Ideally, this course should be run over two consecutive days, but there is a degree of flexibility to accommodate your specific needs.

A range of subjects is covered including:

  • Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Fractures and spinal injuries
  • Shock (including anaphylaxis)
  • Control of bleeding
  • Resuscitation
  • Bandaging
  • Heart attacks
  • Choking
  • Head injuries
  • Shock
  • Eye injuries
  • Poisoning
  • Chest injuries
  • Strains
  • Sprains
  • Burns
  • Asthma
  • Diabetes
  • Epilepsy

Subject to assessment, all learners will be issued a First Aid at Work certificate approved by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). This qualification is valid for a further three years and it can be renewed by attending another HSE Approved two-day re-qualification course.

The HSE strongly recommends that all First Aider's attend an annual refresher course lasting a minimum of three hours.

A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course, and learners must provide evidence of a valid First Aid at Work certificate that has not expired beyond 28 days of the original expiry date.

All learners will be assessed by an independent assessor/s on their ability to act safely, promptly and effectively for a casualty who is responsive, one who requires CPR and one who is bleeding and wounded.
